Weston's two-run double key in Post 7's 4-2 win

The Senior American Legion Post 7 baseball club earned a 4-2 win against Minnesota Exclesior Wednesday, July 3, in Spokane during a tune-up game for the Spokane Wood-Bat Invitational starting the following day.

Tyler Knutsen, Austin Sprague and Jeremy Brockmann combined for a two-hitter. Sprague pitched three innings in relief and earned the win.

The game was tied at 1 before Jake Manson put Post 7 in front with an RBI single in top of the sixth. Marshall Weston followed with bases-loaded double, giving Post 7 a 4-1 lead.

"Marshall Weston had the hit of the game," coach Steve Slesk said in a phone interview. "It was a competitive game."

Post 7 (22-5) begins tournament play Thursday, July 4. About 30-40 teams compete in the Spokane Wood-Bat Tournament, Slesk said.
