Fire permits required on Lummi Island as danger increases

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDJuly 1, 2013

LUMMI ISLAND - Recreational fires greater than 3 feet in diameter and residential burns up to 4 feet in diameter on Lummi Island now need a general permit.

Fire conditions have increased to moderate with the hot, dry weather. General permits are available at The Islander store during normal business hours, and can be downloaded from lummiislandfire.com.

All other fires require a written permit, according to Whatcom County Fire District No. 11. Call 360-758-2411 to schedule a time to obtain a written permit.
