ADVENTURE RACE: Olympia Traverse offers 37.9-mile challenge

June 30, 2013

Registration is open for the fourth annual Olympia Traverse, a multi-sport adventure relay for individual, tandems plus relay and company teams. In addition to the physical challenge, the July 27 event is a celebration of the life cycle of wild salmon.

The event starts with a 7.4-mile mountain bike ride in Capitol Forest out of Mima Falls Trailhead. A 22-mile bike ride goes from Capitol Forest to West Bay Park in downtown Olympia. Competitors will then paddle 31/2 miles around Budd Inlet to Swantown Boatworks. There will then be a 41/2-mile run from Swantown to Priest Point Park and back. The event ends with a half-mile trek from the Hands On Children’s Museum to Port Plaza.
