THE BELLINGHAM HERALDJune 30, 2013

Brice Longanecker and Chad Richter each threw complete games to help the American Senior Legion Post 7 baseball club earn a 2-1 win against Mudville 9 and a 5-3 win against Capital City during pool play of the Skagit Valley Wood-bat Tournament Saturday, June 29, at Sherman Field.

Richter picked up the win against Mudville, allowing only two hits after the first inning. The game was tied 1-1 in the bottom of the seventh, until Tanner Olson hit a walkoff game-winning single down the left-field line.

Longanecker struck out seven and only walked two during his outing.

"It was hist best game of the season," coach Steve Slesk said in a phone interview. "For both pitchers to go the distance was great."

Pete Pennylegion recorded two of Post 7's eight hits on the day, driving in two runs. Olson and Cooper Jansen also each had two hits.

Post 7 (20-3) plays against the Skagit Sox in the tournament semifinals next at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 30, at Sherman Field. If they win, they'll play for the tournament title at 3 p.m.
