'Dine Out' event raises $22,000 for Whatcom County's hungry


BELLINGHAM - Restaurant-goers helped raise $22,000 for hot meals for the hungry during the Dine Out for Maple Alley Inn event May 7.

The fundraiser was put on by the Opportunity Council in partnership with more than 50 local restaurants. The restaurants donated 20 percent of their sales May 7 to Maple Alley Inn, a program of the Opportunity Council that serves free hot meals for needy people.
