Anton & Esther Neyens Celebrate 65 Years of Marriage On Sunday, June 16, 2013, Anton & Esther Neyens of Everson, WA, celebrated 65 years of marriage. Their celebration included a wonderful garden anniversary luncheon hosted by their family in Nooksack at their son and daughter-in-law, Steve & Rhona's home. The luncheon was attended by their three sons and their families. Anton & Esther are both Bellingham High School graduates and met in their teens through youth group. They continued to be family friends for many years. They had their first date on February 22, 1947 and were married in a home wedding on June 16, 1948. In February of 1949 they moved to Everson, WA, where they raised their family and still reside today. Esther retired from nursing at Dr. Spady's office in Everson in 1989 and Anton retired the same year from the Bellingham School District, where he was Manager of the Transportation Department. Their 65 years of wedded bliss is based on giving and forgiving. They also attribute their many years together to the faithful love and support of their family and friends and the faithfulness of the Lord.
