A change of location and date for this year's Bite of Bellingham

BELLINGHAM - The eighth annual Bite of Bellingham event will have a different location and is being moved to September this year.

This year's Bite of Bellingham will take place noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, at Depot Market Square. The event will have more than 20 Whatcom County restaurants making a variety of food dishes for people to taste.

Last year's event drew a crowd of more than 4,000, according to the Downtown Bellingham Partnership.

The Bite of Bellingham was formerly held the third Saturday in August on Cornwall Avenue.

The Downtown Bellingham Partnership listed several reasons for the change, including making it easier for the participating restaurants by not interfering with their busy Saturday evenings, and not conflicting with the Saturday farmers market.

Pushing the event into September also would allow new and returning Western Washington University students to sample the different restaurants.

Admission to the event is free, with food and beverage tickets for sale at $1 each. Some items cost more than one ticket.

Vendor applications are still being accepted. For details, visit downtownbellingham.com or call 360-527-8710.
