Slam clinch playoff spot with 111-83 win


The Bellingham Slam beat the East Bay Pit Bulls 111-83 during an International Basketball League game Saturday, June 22, in Martinez, Calif.

The win clinched Bellingham the No. 1 seed in the IBL Championship Tournament, which begins in July.

Slam center Blake Poole led the Slam with game highs of 32 points and 16 rebounds. He also added six assists. Guards Jacob Stevenson, Rico Wilkins and Drew Ready each contributed 18 points.

Bellingham led by one after the first quarter, but took a commanding lead into the locker room after holding the Pit Bulls to only six second-quarter points.

The Slam return for their final home game against the Salem Sabres at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at Whatcom Pavilion.
