Whatcom County football players show well at all-state game

Area prep football standouts Josh Kraght, Tyrel Cronk, Zach Vis, Bret DeGraaff, James Fakkema and Sam Olney each contributed to a 30-6 West win during the Earl Barden Classic 2A/1A/B All-State football game Saturday, June 22, at Yakima East Valley High School.

Kraght threw a number of touchdowns and was his "usual Kraght self," Squaliucm football coach Reed Richardson said.

Vis caught a pass and an interception in the end zone, DeGraaff played the whole game at center, Fakkema made at least one memorable block based on Richardson's account, Olney had roughly had eight tackles and Cronk started at inside linebacker and made at least a dozen tackles.

"It was a super exciting game," Richardson said in a phone interview. "It was a great showing by all the Whatcom County kids."

Cronk was selected Most Inspiration by his teammates and was getting plenty of attention from his coaches for his play, Richardson said.

Kraght will attend Portland State University next fall, Vis is headed to Montana University, DeGraaff is headed to Whitworth and Fakkema is headed to Central Washington.
