Post 7 earns 5-3 win at wood-bat tournament

Bellingham's Senior Legion Post 7 baseball team earned a 5-3 win during a wood-bat tournament Saturday, June 22, in Yakima.

Cooper Jansen went 4 for 4 with a double, and pitcher Chad Richter earned the win, scattering seven hits through six innings.

Post 7 scored four of its five runs in the third inning.

"Obviously, the key there was the third inning," Post 7 coach Steve Slesk said in a phone interview. "The great thing about that inning is that we had two outs and nobody on and strung together hit after hit."

Peter Pennylegion and Jake Manson each had multi-hit games. Post 7 (14-3) improved to 3-1 in the tournament and will play for either third or a tournament title Sunday, June 23.
