Slam rout Tornadoes, 142-106

The Bellingham Slam defeated the Japan Tornadoes 142-106 on Sunday, June 16, at Pierce College.

Jacob Stevenson led the way for the Slam, scoring 27 points, followed by Rico Wilkins' 23. Blake Poole posted another double-double, scoring 20 points and gathering 11 rebounds.

Although the game was well out of hand entering the fourth quarter, the Tornadoes (1-12) led the Slam (12-2) by two points entering the second quarter. Inevitalbly, though, the Slam were able to string together a 23-7 run in the second, taking a commanding 56-41 lead heading into half time.

While the Tornadoes kept the game within reach for much of the third quarter, a late run by the Slam gave them a 27-point advantage that they wouldn't let get any closer.

Bellingham's next game is at 7 p.m. Friday, June 21, against the Vancouver Volcanoes at Whatcom Community College.
