Bells top Everett 3-1

The Bellingham Bells defeated the Everett Merchants 3-1 on Saturday, June 15, at Joe Martin Field.

The Bells rode the combined pitching efforts of Chris VanDyke, Matt Bower, Chase Radan, Jacob Philips and Ian Buckles to hold the Merchants to three hits and one run over nine innings of work.

Offensively, while the Bells also struggled to put up hits, timely errors by Everett led to an unearned run in the fifth inning off starting pitcher Jojo Howie.

With the game tied 1-1 entering the bottom of the sixth, a double by R.J. Ybarra that scored Jonhny Sewald followed by a run scoring double by Chris Beall gave the Bells the 3-1 lead they would hold for the win.
