Candidates still needed, can file next week for certain Whatcom offices

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDMay 21, 2013

Candidates are sought for 15 offices up for election this year because no one signed up for them during the regular filing period last week.

The Whatcom County Auditor's Office will hold a special filling period, Tuesday, May 28 to Thursday, May 30, for commissioner positions in certain fire districts, water districts, cemetery districts and the Northwest Park and Recreation District based in Blaine.

For the full list of offices that still need candidates, go to whatcomcounty.us/auditor and click on the link under "Special Filing Period." File during the three-day period on the auditor's webpage, or in person from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Whatcom County Auditor's Office, 311 Grand Ave., Suite 103, Bellingham.

Declarations of candidacy also are accepted by mail. For the address and copies of the form, go to whatcomcounty.us/auditor. Any form that comes into the office after 4:30 p.m. May 30 will not be valid.
