FISHING: Columbia sturgeon, tuna topic for program

Milt Gudgell of Pacific Salmon Charters in Ilwaco will be the guest speaker at Wednesday’s meeting of the Olympia Chapter of Trout Unlimited.

Gudgell will give a two-part presentation on the current sturgeon program and fishing for tuna off of the coast. He will provide up-to-date information on Columbia River sturgeon, including the complexity of developing and following management plans for Washington, Oregon and the federal government for the lower river sturgeon fishery.

The second part will look at tuna fishing techniques, locations and the appropriate gear to use.

Gudgell has more than 40 years of fishing and charter service experience.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at North Olympia Fire Station, 5046 Boston Harbor Road NE, Olympia.
