Ski to Sea kicks into high gear with community events

Ski to Sea highlights for this weekend (free unless noted):

Screening of "The Mountain Runners": 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 23, at Pickford Film Center, 1318 Bay St.; $6.75 members, $10 nonmembers, $7.50 children under 12 and students with valid ID.

Ski to Sea Book Sale: Wednesday, May 22, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Thursday, May 23, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Friday, May 24; 10 a.m.-6 p.m. (half-price day); Saturday, May 25, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. ($4 per bag). Bellingham Public Library, 210 Central Ave.

Ski to Sea Community Block Party (all ages): 5 p.m. Friday, May 24, Boundary Bay Brewery, 1107 Railroad Ave. The Atlantics play at 6 p.m.

Ski to Sea Race: The seven-leg relay race covering 93.5 miles from Mount Baker to Bellingham Bay starts 7:45 a.m. Sunday on Mount Baker with cross-country then downhill skiing, running, road biking, canoeing, mountain biking and kayaking, ending at Marine Park in Fairhaven.

Boulevard Park Antique Car Show: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, May 26, Boulevard Park. Sponsor: Antique Automobile Restorers Club.

Fairhaven Festival: 10 a.m. Sunday, May 26, Fairhaven Village Green, Tenth Street and Mill Avenue. Details: fairhaven.com

Ski to Sea Beer Garden and Awards Show: 11 a.m. Sunday, May 26, Marine Park, 300 Harris Ave.
