BELLINGHAM - Elected officials and candidates, planning commissioners, consultants and anyone else interested in development planning can take a free, one-day "Short Course on Local Planning."
Topics include the Growth Management Act - the state law that regulates local planning - and the comprehensive plan, the local document that provides the long-term framework for how land can be used.
People who attend will also learn how the public can participate in shaping major developments, such as the Bellingham waterfront. Information in the class is relevant to both city and county residents.
The workshop runs 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Bellingham City Hall, 210 Lottie St. It's free, with no registration required.
