Ferndale boys's golf falls just short of cut

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDMay 16, 2013

With a cut line about as low as Ferndale boys' golf coach Joel Wark has ever seen, neither Matt Scott, Tanner Lester or Joel Quanz made the cut at the Class 3A Northwest District Championships on Wedneday, May 15, at the Snohomish Golf Course.

"For the cut to be 160 ... the kids were pressing on the back nine trying to make some magic happen," Wark said in a phone interview. "They were trying to make birdies fall, and that wasn't happening. They were gambling more than they normally would."

With the cut at 160, Scott finished with a two-day total of 169, good for 24th, while Lester and Quanz finished with totals of 175 and 180, respectively.

"The seniors have set a good tradition of working hard, so the future is looking bright at Ferndale," Wark said.
