Squalicum's Flint shines at Class 2A district track meet


Squalicum's Gina Flint continues to amaze, only this time at the Class 2A Northwest District prelims when she notched the fifth longest mark in the country in the shot put on Wednesday, May 15, at Civic Stadium, tossing it 48-02.50, good for first while earning a bid to the state meet.

Joining Flint at the state meet from Squalicum will be Zoe Peterson, who won the triple jump, and Ilea Dibble, who finished third in the high jump.

Sehome's Emily Pittis also earned a bid to state after winning the 1,600 with a time of 5:06.06. Bellingham's Olivia Halverson and Ellie Kindlund earned berths after Halverson won the high jump and Kindlund finished third in the triple jump. Halverson also earned a state berth in the javelin.

Rounding out the top Whatcom County performers were Lynden's Shelby Jacob, who won the javelin, and Sehome's Chanelle Eddy, who finished second in the shot put.
