Renata Kowalczyk seeks Port of Bellingham seat

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDMay 15, 2013

BELLINGHAM - Renata Kowalczyk, a Bellingham business consultant, has filed her candidacy for the 1st District seat on the Port of Bellingham Commission.

Dan Robbins also has filed for the seat. Incumbent Scott Walker has announced he will not seek re-election.

Kowalczyk's candidacy got an expression of support from Commissioner Mike McAuley, who is seeking re-election to his 2nd District seat and has not drawn an opponent so far.

"Ports are unlike any other government in the state - it takes more than an idle, part-time interest to be a successful port commissioner," McAuley said in Kowalcyzk's press release. "Renata has that unique set of skills, drive, and understanding that makes for a great commissioner. I would gladly sit with her on the Port of Bellingham Commission."
