Bellingham Chamber appoints Gorman to interim position

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDMay 15, 2013

Bill Gorman has been hired by the Bellingham/Whatcom Chamber of Commerce to assist the organization while it searches for a new president.

Gorman will help with a variety of chamber activities starting Monday, May 20. Gorman was formerly the North Puget Sound sales manager for Comcast Spotlight.

The chamber board is searching to replace Ken Oplinger, who announced last month that he would be leaving at the end of May to become president and CEO of the Santa Barbara Regional Chamber of Commerce in California.

"Ken has served well for over nine years and we look forward to working with our members to recruit the next chamber president," Jim Darling, co-chairman of the chamber's board of directors, said in a news release. "We are fortunate to have someone of Bill (Gorman's) leadership experience and community knowledge to support the chamber in the interim."
