Blaine's Wallen wins Tri-Districts


Blaine's Ryan Wallen won the Class 1A Tri-District Tournament with an 18-hole score of 73, defeating Kings' Jack Ryan O'Neil in the first hole of a playoff on Tuesday, May 14, at the Golf Mount Golf Club in Bremerton.

The Lynden Christian boys' golf team, led by a round of 74 by senior Willy Scholten, defended its Class 1A Tri-District team title. Dillon Vander Hoek shot a personal-best 79 despite going bogey, double-bogey over his final two holes.

"Dillon played fantastic," Lynden Christian coach Dana Hagen said in a phone interview.

Lincoln Olson, Luke Olson and Weber Bartz all qualified from Lynden Christian for the state tournament which begins on Monday, May 20, at the Lake Spanaway golf course in Spanaway.
