WWU club baseball to play for spot in national club world series

The WWU club baseball team qualified for the conference tournament for the fourth consecutive year by winning the Western Division of the Northwest Pacific Conference with a series win over the University of Oregon.

The tournament will be held in La Grande, Ore. and will include the University of Montana, Idaho State University and the University of Oregon and the winner will qualify of the National Collegiate Club Baseball World Series in Tampa.

Former Red Raiders Pete Carlson and Joe Briggs, former Squalicum player Andrew Murray and former Mariners Dane Siegried and Conor Long play on the club team.

HUNT WINS AT MAY MASTERS

Kris Hunt won Division I of the Lake Padden Men's Club May Masters on Saturday, May 11 with a score of 70. Dave Stamm shot a 76 to win Division II and Jay Tinker shot a 77 to win Division III.

This is a major tournament that qualifies for the Taylor Made Challenge.

REGISTRATION FOR SKI TO SEA REOPENS

New team registration has reopened for the 2013 Ski to Sea Race. A few teams occupying spots were forced to opt out due to lack of participants. Teams must register by May 18th either by phone or online.

FERNDALE U10 BASEBALL WINS TOURNAMENT

The Ferndale U10 baseball team didn't lose a game on its way to an 8-4 win over Stanwood in the championship game of the Lynden Spring Fling Tournament on May 11-12.

The team members are Landen Hatchett, Shea Jeffrey, Evan Rehberger, Aiden Peterson, Damian Garza, Bodie Human, Andrew James, Ryan Pelton, Aidan Roddell, Kyler Fleming, Kobe Sandstrom, and Carson Peters.

This is the teams second tournament win and is now 16-5-1 overall.

KENDALL RECORDS HOLD-IN-ONE

Bob Kendall made his second hole-in-one on hole 18 in the past three months at the Bellingham Golf & Country Club. He used his driver to hit the 190-yard par 3 shot.

WSU VOICE TO MAKE APPEARANCE

Bob Robertson, the voice of the Washington State University Cougars, will be at the Bellingham Bay Rotary Club at noon on Tuesday, May 13. The Blaine High School grad began his broadcasting career in Bellingham.

VOLLEYBALL CLUB TO HOST BOYS CAMP

Ferndale Club Volleyball will host an evening boy's volleyball camp June 12 and 14 for boys age 11 to 18 at Whatcom Middle School. Campers will be grouped according to age and ability and will work on fundamental skills such as passing, setting, serving, hitting and blocking.
