Rain cancels first round of girls' golf Northwest District Tournament

The Class 2A District Girls Golf Tournament ended the first day early due to inclement weather on Monday, May 13, at the Skagit County Golf and Country Club.

Only the first group of players was able to finish the first day's event. Bellingham coach Brad McKay said the tournament will resume Tuesday, May 14, and all players will start from where they left off and finish 18 holes. The players that finished the day will just play the final nine holes, other players will play up to 13 holes depending on how far they got.

There will be no cut and team scores will still apply to crown a team district champion. The top 18 players will advance to state.

"Now that it's 18 holes it changes a lot of things," McKay said. "But we still have to finish as best as we can on the day."
