Rave: So many helped celebrate Meridian High open house

COURTESY TO THE BELLINGHAM HERALDMay 12, 2013

Sitting in my fabulous, sunny classroom this fine morning before school starts, I am thinking of so many who came to celebrate last night at our Meridian High School open house. As a teacher at this great facility, I would like to send a huge thank you to all of those who helped to make our new Meridian High School a reality. Scores of focused individuals with a common goal contributed: administrators, school board members, construction workers, staff from all areas, community members, alumni, parents and students (especially Joel Wiebe). These amazing people did not give up and they created a beautiful environment for our students. These efforts are a testimony to community, democracy and great use of taxpayer dollars. Come see our wonderful school. It is not just about the building--there are programs for everyone as well: various academies and classes that offer college credit (welding/construction/engineering/AP classes in numerous subjects) and a variety of subjects for all students. I am blessed and proud to be a teacher at Meridian High School, and I know my colleagues are, too. The students of today and tomorrow deserve this awesome facility. The result of vision, perseverance and teamwork can be seen here at this exemplary public high school here on the Laurel Road. A hearty thank you to everyone involved.
