The Bellingham softball team earned its first win 17-7 over Concrete in five innings in a non-conference game at home Thursday, May 9.

"We got off to a really good start and scored nine runs in the first inning and flipped the table to what's been happening to us most of the year," Bellingham coach Rick Ellis said in a phone interview. "It was nice to see. The girls played hard and it was nice to be on the other side of the ledger. We had a lot of girls have a nice game."

Paige Jacobsen led the Red Raiders and went 3 for 4 with a double and three runs. Katie Hinkley went 2 for 3 with two runs and three RBI and Jessica Braaten went 2 for 3 with three runs and three RBI.

"They're trying to get better and to get that first win at game 18 this year, it was good to see them excited," Ellis said. "Hinkley had a great game behind the plate. It was a good, positive step for our program."
