Dozens of local offices are up for election this year, and candidates must file the week of Monday, May 13, with the Whatcom County Auditor's Office.

The office encourages candidates to file online at whatcomcounty.us/auditor. Online filing is open only from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, May 13, to Friday, May 17.

Or file in person, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the county courthouse, 311 Grand Ave., Suite 103, Bellingham.

Declarations of candidacy are also accepted by mail. For the address and copies of the declaration form, go to whatcomcounty.us/auditor.

Offices on the ballot this year include county council, city councils, school boards and the Port of Bellingham commission. A few notable incumbents have announced they will not seek re-election, including Bellingham council members Seth Fleetwood and Stan Snapp, and Port Commissioner Scott Walker.
