Nyenhuis, Ferndale win 15-0

Scarlett Nyenhuis went 4 for 4 and pitched three scoreless innings to propel the Ferndale softball team to a 15-0 win in five innings over Bellingham on Wednesday, May 8.

"We were just patient at the plate and putting the bat on the ball," Ferndale coach Holly Hilton said in a phone interview. "We were able to get people on and go through the lineup. It was a fun game."

Corrie Wilson went 2 for 2 with thre RBI and a home run and Collette Brown went 1 for 3 with two RBI and a home run for the Golden Eagles (9-3 NWC, 13-7).

Bellingham (0-12 NWC, 0-17) was led by Katie Hinkley, who went 1 for 2 and Luisa Manatu, who went 1 for 2 with a double.

Ferndale will play in the first round of the Class 3A Northwest District Tournament on Tuesday, May 14, in Everett against a team to be determined.

Bellingham will host Concrete in a non-conference game Thursday, May 9.
