The Lynden Christian boys' soccer team advanced to the Class 1A Tri-District Championship with a 5-2 win over University Prep at Sammamish on Tuesday, May 7.

Each team scored two goals in the first 11 minutes.

"Oh my goodness it was a frantic pace early, but I thought our guys did a good job executing our gameplan," Lynden Christian coach Brent De Ruyter said in a phone interview. "University Prep is a dangerous team and their pace was something we needed to adjust to. After the first 11 minutes we responded well and limited their opportunities."

Toby Dalla Santa scored first in the 4th minute for Lynden Christian. Tolossa Hassan scored in the 7th for University Prep but Luke Reardon responded a minute later for the Lyncs (12-5-3). Reardon scored again in the 47th before Dalla Santa scored his next two in the 53rd and 56th minute to put the game out of reach.

"Toby and Luke really worked so well together and Cody Fransen did good with them," De Ruyter said. "It's nice to see our two captains step up and produce. They really made some key distributions and Cody did a good job getting them the ball as well."

The Lyncs will play Seattle Christian in the championship Friday, May 8, at Sammamish.
