Weston, Ferndale win 5-0, earn berth to state

The Ferndale baseball team locked up its ticket to the Class 3A State Tournament with a 5-0 win over Shorewood on Tuesday, May 7, in Shoreline.

"It was just another great performance by our pitcher," Ferndale coach Donny Hennigs said in a phone interview. "Marshall (Weston) just competed his tail off. We thought we would pitch two or three guys but he took the ball and was in the zone and kept them off-balance. We did a good job on defense behind him too."

Weston also went 1 for 4 for the Golden Eagles (15-7). Peter Pennylegion went 1 for 3 with a RBI and Brady Bauthues went 2 for 3 with two RBI.

Ferndale will play Meadowdale in the championship game of the Class 3A Northwest District Tournament on Saturday, May 11, in Shoreline for seeding into the state tournament.
