Three home runs lift Sehome over Meridian

The Sehome softball team rebounded after surrendering four runs in the first inning to defeat Meridian 13-4 on Tuesday, May 7, at Sehome in a Northwest Conference matchup.

Mallory Kruzich overcame her initial shakiness in the first to hold the Trojans to just four scattered hits over the final six innings of play. Kruzich certainly wasn't without any offensive support, though.

Rachel Albert, Gabby Gorosave and Morgan Henry all hit home runs for the Mariners, and Albert and Gorosave combined for six RBI in the afternoon.

"We answered back with that home run (by Albert), and then finally in the fourth we sent 13 batters to the plate and had 10 hits," Sehome coach Jim Emerson said in a phone interview.

Despite the impressive 3 for 4 day to go alongside four runs scored, Albert's defense is what warranted praise from her coach following the win.

"Rachel made a couple of really nice defensive plays that were very nice, Rachel-like plays," Emerson said of his senior.

This was the final game of the regular season for both Meridian (5-13, NWC 3-8) and Sehome (7-10, 5-6).
