B y the numbers That is the average number of trout caught by anglers on the April 27 opening day of the lowland lake trout season. The state Department of Fish and Wildlife conducted creel checks at 98 lakes statewide. Based on interviews with the 4,076 anglers contacted by the department, people kept an average of 2.8 trout per person, up from 2.3 fish in recent years. The rest of the fish were released.
