H Street in Blaine to close for two days during construction

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDMay 5, 2013

BLAINE - Parts of H Street will be closed to vehicle traffic for two days starting Tuesday, May 7, while the road is being paved.

The closure will be from the Interstate 5 overpass to Fourth Street, with intermittent closures of intersections for side street paving.

Detours will be in place during the work, scheduled to end Wednesday, May 8.

Businesses will remain open. Pedestrians may continue to use H Street, but they are asked to be extremely cautious.

The work is part of the H Street revitalization project started last summer; this final piece, which will include re-striping for angle parking on one side, will mark its completion.

Construction work is by Stremler Gravel of Lynden. The project cost was estimated at $865,000, with most of it covered by a federal grant.
