State superintendent Dorn to speak at WWU fundraiser

BELLINGHAM - State Superintendent of Public Instruction Randy Dorn will speak at Western Washington University Sunday, May 19, during the university's Back 2 Bellingham Alumni and Family Weekend.

Dorn will be the keynote speaker at a champagne brunch fundraiser for the university's Compass 2 Campus program, which sends trained WWU student mentors into schools throughout Whatcom and Skagit counties.

After working as a teacher, principal and legislator, Dorn was elected to the state Superintendent position in 2008. He was re-elected to the position in November 2012.

The brunch will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room in the Viking Union. Single seats at the brunch are $35, with sponsorship of a table of 10 available for $250. People can register for seats or tables at this website.
