Red Raiders fall 11-1

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDMay 4, 2013

The Bellingham softball team fell 11-1 in six innings at Burlington-Edison in a Northwest Conference game Friday, May 3.

"For us it was a step in the right direction," Bellingham coach Rick Ellis said in a phone interview. "We haven't had too many games go beyond five and we only gave up six runs. The girls made some plays today and played really well defensively."

Amaya Johnson pitched for the Red Raiders (0-10, 0-15).

"Amaya has been pitching pretty regularly now and she did a really nice job," Ellis said. "For us to go from 20 runs every game to 11 is a huge improvement."

Bellingham hosts Nooksack Valley next at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 7.
