FERNDALE - A City Council member who has worked to enhance economic growth will seek a second term.

Brent Goodrich, 55, is former chairman of the Ferndale Economic Development Commission. When the council debated changing traffic impact fees for new businesses in 2012, Goodrich was among the strongest advocates for lower fees.

Goodrich has written two guest editorials published in The Bellingham Herald supporting the Gateway Pacific Terminal for coal exporting at Cherry Point.

He stood out last year for his strongly worded reproaches of the city's hard-water problem, on behalf of concerned residents. A possible solution is currently under discussion.

No one yet has come forward as a challenger for Goodrich's seat. He and fellow first-term council member Jon Mutchler are the only incumbents who will run.
