Guidroz leads Storm to 2-1 win, second seed at district tournament


Gabe Guidroz scored two goals to give the Squalicum boys' soccer team a 2-1 win at home over Anacortes in a Northwest Conference finale Tuesday, April 30.

"Anacortes is a very scrappy team and fought hard," Squalicum coach Joe McAuliffe said in a phone interview. "I think the Squalicum boys remained composed and kept working hard. Adam Smiley was all over the middle and controlled the ball well."

Guidroz scored in the third and 60th minute for the Storm (8-2-2 NWC, 10-4-2), who secured the second seed in the Class 2A Northwest District tournament with the win.

Squalicum will host Sammamish on Saturday, May 4, in the first round of the tournament.
