WWU softball players named to GNAC first-team all-stars


Five Western Washington University players were named to the 2013 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Softball All-Star team announced Tuesday, April 30.

Alexie Levin, outfielder Camille Depew and designated player Jordan Walley were first-team picks; and second baseman Kristen Allen and catcher Jackie Rothenberger were second-team choices.

Levin hit .333 (42 for 126) with three home runs, 23 runs scored and a team-high 26 runs batted in as an outfielder, first baseman and pitcher. In the circle, she posted a 10-7 record with a 3.77 earned run average.

Depew batted .299 with team-bests of 47 hits and 32 runs scored. She had nine doubles and 20 RBI.

Walley led the Vikings with six home runs and a .539 slugging percentage, driving in 25 runs.

Allen topped the team in batting average (.344), doubles (13), runs (32), total bases (69), walks (23) and on-base percentage (.449).

Rothenberger, who also was a second-team all-star in 2011, hit .295, driving in 22 runs and scoring 22. She made just two errors in 128 chances for a .984 fielding average.
