Ferndale jumps out to quick lead in 26-4 win

The Ferndale softball team jumped out to a quick start in its 26-4 win over Squalicum in five innings Tuesday, April 30, in a Northwest Conference game at Squalicum.

"The game went well and Ferndale is true to their record," Squalicum coach Loren Zenonian said in a phone interview. "They jumped out to a 13 run lead and we took a while to start playing defense. Once we did we settled down and played a lot better and strung some hits together in the third."

The Golden Eagles (8-2 NWC, 12-6) were led by Corrie Wilson, who went 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBI and Scarlett Nyenhuis, who went 3 for 4 with four RBI.

Squalicum (1-8 NWC, 2-14) was led by Brianna Pride and Lindsay Pysden, who each went 2 for 3.

Squalicum plays a doubleheader with Mount Baker on Friday, May 3, while Ferndale takes on Lynden on Tuesday, May 7, in Lynden for a Northwest Conference game.
