Blessing of the Fleet, fishermen's memorial Sunday in Blaine

BLAINE - Fishermen lost at sea and those set to take to the waters will be honored at the annual Blaine Fishermen's Memorial and Blessing of the Fleet Sunday, May 5.

The ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Blaine Boating Center, 235 Marine Drive.

The gathering will include a blessing for local fishermen to wish them a safe and successful fishing season. At the end of the ceremony, a wreath commemorating fishermen who died at sea will be taken by the Plover ferry out into the harbor and laid to rest in Semiahmoo Bay.

Refreshments will be served after the event.
