Ferndale comes back, wins 19-7

The Ferndale baseball team was able to come back and defeat Bellingham 19-7 in five innings at Bellingham on Monday, April 29, in a Northwest Conference game.

"It was a game where neither team could improve their district seeding," Ferndale coach Donny Hennigs said in a phone interview. "I knew Bellingham was going to staff the game to throw, other than that, they struggled with their control and we did a good job not letting them off the hook. It wasn't a Picasso by any means."

Kyler Brudwick went 1 for 2 with three runs, five RBI and a grand slam for the Golden Eagles (9-3 NWC, 13-7), and Marshall Weston went 2 for 2 with four runs and a home run.

Alex Check went 1 for 2 with a grand slam and four RBI, and Dante Check went 2 for 3 for the Red Raiders (8-4 NWC, 13-6).

Bellingham will play Archbishop Murphy in the first round of the Class 2A Northwest District 1/2 Tournament in Anacortes on Saturday, May 4, while Ferndale will play an opponent to be determined in the Class 3A Northwest District Tournament.
