Bellingham scores 6 in win over Golden Eagles

The Bellingham boys' soccer team scored in the first minute and went on to defeat Ferndale 6-0 in a Northwest Conference match at Civic Stadium on Monday, April 29.

"From the first minute it was a great build up, and we played well," Bellingham coach Matt Zigulis said in a phone interview. "All the seniors really stepped up tonight, and every one of them got on the score sheet some how. Even the keeper Auden Schilder got an assist, so that was special."

Noe Betancourt-Cruz scored the first goal, and Brad Dale scored the second in the 28th minute. Keegan Nutt scored a minute later for the Red Raiders (11-0-1 NWC, 15-0-1), and Conlon Kiffney scored in the 45th. Joel Betancourt-Cruz slotted away a penalty kick in the 50th minute, and Emile Diffley scored the final goal in the 74th minute.

Bellingham will host in the first round of the Class 2A Northwest District 1/2 tournament Saturday, May 4, against an opponent to be determined.
