Lions hold on to win 10-8 over Sehome

The Lynden girls' softball team held on to defeat Sehome 10-8 in a Northwest Conference game Monday, April 29, at Sehome.

"It was a tough win for us," Lynden coach Steve Petersen said in a phone interview. "We got out a little bit early and Sehome battled back and had a lot of energy and put up a couple big innings on us. It was anyone's game from then on out, and we were fortunate to get a couple runs in the fifth and sixth to get the win."

Tanna Benson went 3 for 4 with three RBI, and Destinee Matter went 3 for 4 with three RBI for the Lions (9-0 NWC, 12-3).

Gabby Gorosave, Rachel Albert and Hallie Messenger each went 2 for 4 for the Mariners (3-6 NWC, 5-9).

Lynden travels to Blaine for a double header Friday, May 3, while Sehome travels to Nooksack Valley.
