Bellingham shuts out Ferndale 7-0 in tennis

The Bellingham girls' tennis team defeated Ferndale 7-0 in a Northwest Conference game Monday, April 29, in Ferndale.

"We faced a very talented and deep Bellingham squad," Ferndale coach Rudy Vendiola said in a phone interview. "Our number two doubles, although losing, gave a battle and competed and in the second set were able to compete and get four games."

Tess Owen and Cari Pearsall from Bellingham (13-1, 7-1 NWC) defeated Carly Bannerman and Shelby Slaughter in the second doubles game 6-0, 6-4.

Bella Hoyos defeated Ferndale's (1-11, 1-6 NWC) Jamie Pettinger 6-0, 6-2 in the first singles set.

Bellingham hosts South Whidbey in a non-conference match Tuesday, April 30, while Ferndale hosts Blaine in a Northwest Conference match.
