LC bears conditions, comes away with 10-4 win

The Lynden Christian softball team overcame difficult conditions to defeat visiting Friday Harbor 10-4 on Saturday, April 27, in a non-league matchup.

The Lyncs got their offense rolling in the third, scoring four runs and following it up with a five-run fourth to put the game out of reach.

"We were playing in a downpour, so it got pretty ugly pretty fast, and the team played mentally (strong) today with the tough field conditions," Lynden Christian coach Mitch Moorlag said in a phone interview.

Bridget Kruck picked up her third win of the season while getting some help offensively from Karley De Jager, who had a double and two RBI.

"Her approach at the plate the last two games has been really improving," Moorlag said. "She had been struggling early in the year, and she has started to hit the ball with some authority."

The Lyncs (4-11, NWC 1-7) travel to Nooksack Valley on Monday, April 29.
