Struiksma, Larson power Pioneers past Alumni

In a matchup of old vs. new, the Nooksack Valley softball team defeated the alumni 13-6 on Saturday, April 27, at Nooksack Valley.

"It's a really fun, competitive atmosphere," Nooksack Valley coach Tom Harmon said in a phone interview.

Kayla Struiksma picked up her seventh win of the year in the circle while also hitting a double and driving in three RBI. McKinna Larson also had a strong day at the plate, going 2 for 4 with a home run, a double and two RBI.

"We managed to hit the ball a little bit," Harmon said. "It's fun because our alumni hit the ball really well, too."

Amanda Tevelde and Amber Oliver both went 2 for 3 with a double for the alumni.

Nooksack Valley (9-6, NWC 4-4) travels to Anacortes on Tuesday, April 30.
