Whatcom County woman pleads guilty to raping boy

BELLINGHAM - A Whatcom County woman has pleaded guilty to raping and sexually assaulting a middle school-aged boy.

Paris Avery Olsen was discovered lying naked in bed with the boy in September 2010. At the time, she was 22. They had engaged in oral sex and sexual intercourse, according to charging documents filed in Whatcom County Superior Court. The boy was later diagnosed with chlamydia.

Olsen, an enrolled member of the Nooksack Tribe, said she was drunk and "messing around" with him, according to court records. She went on to say it was out of character for her.

Last week Olsen, also known as Paris Charles, pleaded guilty to third-degree rape of a child and second-degree assault, agreeing to serve 2 1/2 years in prison. She's now locked up in Whatcom County Jail, without bail, awaiting her next court hearing. She must undergo a thorough pre-sentence evaluation within two months.
