Bellingham offense wears down Nooksack Valley, 10-0

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDApril 27, 2013

The Bellingham baseball team topped Nooksack Valley 10-0 on Friday, April 26, in a Northwest Conference matchup at Nooksack Valley.

The Red Raiders were able to string all 10 runs over the final four innings, including seven in the seventh.

"They swing the bats well and do a good job at the plate," Nooksack coach Scott Gelwicks said in a phone interview.

Matt Richard had a solid four-RBI day while Aaron Burke added two hits and two RBI of his own.

Despite the loss, Gelwicks was particularly impressed with his freshman starter Noah Rawls.

"He did a good job of holding (Bellingham) down, but we just couldn't do a good job of generating runs," he said. "As the season has gone on, he's gotten tougher and tougher."

Both Bellingham (13-5, NWC 8-3) and Nooksack Valley (5-13, 2-9) play on Monday, April 29, with the Red Raiders hosting Ferndale and the Pioneers welcoming Lynden Christian.
