Biehle tosses gem in LC wins

The Lynden Christian baseball team snuffed out a last-inning rally to defeat Squalicum 8-5 on Friday, April 26, at Lynden Christian in a Northwest Conference game.

Dalton Biehle picked up his third win of the season after going five strong innings of one-run ball.

"It was his best outing of the year," Lynden Christian coach Desi Luna said in a phone interview. "He had good command, and he had good velocity today."

Alex VanderVelden, who Luna said is usually in for his strong defensive capabilities, had a strong performance at the plate going 3 for 3 with two runs and an RBI.

"He's been struggling, and we've been working pretty hard with him," Luna said. "I was real pleased to see him come out of it and have a few clutch hits that broke the game open."

Ben Johnson had a solid two-hit, one-RBI game for the Storm.

Both Lynden Christian (3-9 NWC, 8-10) and Squalicum (3-8 NWC, 4-15) play on Monday, April 29, with the Lyncs traveling to Nooksack Valley and the Storm hosting Anacortes. Both are NWC matchups.
