Bellingham girls' tennis cruises over Blaine, 6-1

The Bellingham girls' tennis team topped Blaine 6-1 on Friday, April 26, at Blaine in a Northwest Conference matchup.

The Red Raiders (6-1 NWC, 12-1) saw a lot of success in the singles matches en route to four straight-set wins. Bella Hoyos and Kira Vazorka both won their matches 6-0 6-0.

Blaine (1-4 NWC, 5-8) did have some success in doubles, though, with the pairing of Emily Grayston and Alex Henderson pulling out a tough, three-set win over Kate Troutman and Catie Welch, 2-6 6-1 7-6 (7-3).

"It was the last match going, and it was the best one played on both sides," Blaine coach John Freal said in a phone interview. "They played consistently well after the first set, and we're glad to win one."
