The Sehome girls' tennis team won its 11th match in a row and maintained its perfect record with a 7-0 win against Squalicum during a Northwest Conference match Friday, April 26, at Sehome High School.
Andrea Clawson, Lauren Smith, Simone Hall and Lizzie Friesen each won their singles matches, and coach Bonna Giller was thrilled with first time doubles pairing Kara Junttila and Christine Zlotek, during their 6-3, 6-4 win.
"I was pleased with our effort today," Giller said in a phone interview. "Squalicum played well. Even though the scores might signal something different, we had a lot of close points and a lot of close sets. Our No. 3 doubles, it was their first time playing together, and I thought they were really solid."
Doubles teams Madison Harris and Taylor Harris and Kristen Chalmers and Jane Clawson each won their matches.
Sehome (5-0 NWC, 11-0) travels to play Auburn Riverside next at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 27, while Squalicum (6-3 NWC, 8-4), which was riding a five-match win streak, ended its regular season Friday.
